We will refund using the same payment method you used for the purchase. Processing usually takes 2–4 business days after receipt of the return.

Yes, certainly. If the shoes don't fit, you can exchange them.

4. Can I place a pre-order if my size is unavailable?
Yes. If your desired size is not in stock, we are happy to accept pre-orders. Please send us an email with the model, size, and delivery address. The pre-order is non-binding; payment is only made shortly before delivery. We receive new deliveries approximately every 6 weeks.

Contact us with your order number and photos. If the defect is confirmed, you will receive a free DHL return label. We will exchange the item or refund the full amount.

9. Information on Shipping, Delivery & Customs
All details on shipping costs, delivery times (national & international), VAT, and customs can be found here: Shipping & Delivery.
10. Which shoe size should I choose?
We recommend measuring your feet in centimeters (cm) and comparing them with our size chart. UK and EU sizes are not standardized; the cm measurement (foot length) is the most reliable.
11. What shoe widths are available (D, E, 2E, 3E)?
Shoe widths according to the Brannock System:
- D/E: Standard width for normal feet
- EE (2E): Wide fit for stronger feet
- EEE (3E): Extra wide fit for very wide feet/more toe room
More info: Brannock Device – Wikipedia
12. Which lasts are available for Jim Green shoes?
- ASHM (Standard Last, D–E): Narrow-looking appearance, standard width, slightly tapering toe box – for normal to slightly wider feet.
- STC (Wide Last, 2E): Wider with a generous, round toe box – ideal for robust feet/more toe room.
- JG (Extra Wide Last, 3E): Very wide, firm instep hold, shallower toe box – for wide feet seeking stability.
- Barefoot Zero Drop (Extra Wide, 3E): Very wide, especially generous toe box, zero drop – for a natural barefoot feel.
The last used is always specified in the product description.
13. What types of leather does Jim Green use and what are their properties?
We use genuine leather – predominantly cowhide and selected models made from buffalo leather (African wild buffalo, wild-hunted – not farmed).
- Full Grain (cowhide): Natural, robust smooth leather; initially a bit stiffer, medium break-in time; very durable, beautiful patina.
- Nubuck (cowhide, sanded): Velvety soft, comfortable from the start; more sensitive to moisture/stains.
- Veg Tan (vegetable-tanned cowhide): Traditionally tanned, firmer; longer break-in time; very durable, strong patina.
- Bronco (oily pull-up, cowhide): Oily; pull-up effect; medium break-in time; rustic look, more water-resistant than Nubuck.
- Buffalo (water buffalo): Very thick and robust; long break-in time; then extremely durable and stable.
The leather type is specified in the product description.
14. How do I properly break in my Jim Green Boots?
- First steps: Initially snug, but not painful; wear them for a few hours at home first, then gradually increase wear time.
- Insoles & Fit: Many models have removable insoles (fine-tuning possible with thin/thick insoles). Models without removable insoles: Barefoot Zero Drop (deliberately without an insole for a barefoot feel), Numzaan, and 719 (fixed leather insole).
- Sock choice: Thick/thin socks noticeably change the fit – experiment.
- Tongue & Lacing: Will "train" themselves in; position neatly, readjust if necessary.
15. Can Jim Green Boots be resoled?
Yes. Thanks to the Stitchdown construction, most models can be easily and affordably resoled by a local cobbler. In South Africa, our factory offers an official resole service.
Tip: Resole sooner rather than later – this protects the leather, extends the lifespan, and allows for further future resoles.
16. How do I properly care for my Jim Green Boots?
Care steps
- Remove dirt with a dry brush; use a toothbrush for seams/tight spots.
- Apply saddle soap/leather cleaner to areas, then wipe with a damp cloth (do not saturate).
- Condition with beeswax or leather balm. For Nubuck/suede: Suede Cleaner.
- Crazy Horse / Pull-up: For a lighter look, only clean/use Suede Cleaner if needed; for a darker look, use beeswax/balm (initially darker, lightens after a few days; more water resistance).
Tips: Care regularly; rotate boots (2–3 pairs); stuff wet boots with newspaper & dry in a cool/airy place (not oven/sun); for longer storage, occasionally "flex" them by hand.
